JOSEPH SEBESTA On Thursday, July 4, 2002, Joseph (Joe) Sebesta passed away at his home. Joe was a lifelong bachelor who was very devoted to his faith. He was one of the founding members and builders of Our Lady of Fatima Church and served the church over many years. Joe was predeceased by his father Frank and mother Ann. Joe was born on March 12, 1922 in Moravia and came to Canada as an eight year old with his family. The Sebestas were farmers who broke land around St. Anne, MB. Joe recalled the harshness of the first winter when they lived in a mud hut and had the stove burning red hot yet the walls were covered with solid ice. Joe enjoyed his gardening and handyman tasks. He was a kind, quiet and generous man. Joe served in the Canadian Army and also worked with the City of Winnipeg for several years. He was the proud owner of a dark blue 1953 Chevrolet that he drove until 1992. Most of the 65,000 miles on that car were put on driving up to visit the farm of his late friend Joe Malinsky near Selkirk, MB. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, July 9 at 1:00 p.m. at St. Anthony of Padua Roman Catholic Church, 250 Burrin Ave. with Rev. Fr. George Svoboda officiating. Interment will follow at Holy Ghost Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Phil Arnaud, Colin Bogar, Jerry Hall, Bill Kunn, George Kveton and Stan Sniezyk. CROPO FUNERAL CHAPEL 586-8044
