JOHN (JACK) RICKNER Peacefully, with his family at his side, John (Jack) Rickner passed away Saturday, July 6, 2002. Jack was the eldest of five children by Frank and Edith Rickner and was born in East Kildonan on June 29, 1921. Jack attended Prince Edward and Lord Wolseley Schools. Jack joined The Royal Canadian Navy (DEMS) in 1942 and returned to work for The Hudson Bay Company until retiring in 1984. In his youth he was a keen swimmer, joining the Navy Swimming Team for some time before leaving Winnipeg for active duty during the war. He enjoyed fishing and curling and was a Past President of The Hudson Bay Curling Club and member of the White Ensign Club. He is survived by his loving wife Margaret; and three sons, Ken (Maureen), Calgary, AB, Doug (Shelley), Tsawwassen, BC, and Todd (Penny), Winnipeg; his sister Kay Buttassy, Winnipeg; and brother Frank, Lake Shore Heights, MB; many nieces, nephews and cousins, and his dog Bailey. Jack was predeceased by his sisters, Eileen Taylor and Bernice Penn. We wish to acknowledge the kindness and compassion given to Jack and his family by the staff at T6, Deer Lodge Centre. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, July 11 at 1:00 p.m. at Thomson Funeral Chapels, 669 Broadway.
