JOHN BARTON GARVIN John Barton Garvin passed away peacefully in his sleep on Monday, September 9, 2002, in the Penticton Regional Hospital, in his 90th year. John leaves his beloved wife Dora, with whom he spent many happy years, both during his career and in his retirement, travelling, golfing, bowling, fishing, gardening and visiting their many friends and family. Born and raised in Winnipeg, John worked as an electrician in the Flin Flon mines and later as the electrical superintendent of the Kimberly Clark pulpmill in Terrace Bay, ON. He was very involved with activities in his community. In 1975 he retired and he and Dora moved to Summerland, BC and in 1989 they relocated to Penticton, BC. John will be deeply missed by Dora; his son Bill (Christine) Garvin; stepsons, Bill (Laurie) McDonald and Dennis (Arlene) McDonald; seven grandchildren, Darcy, Siobhan, Leslie, Susan, Bruce, Melissa and Allison; and six great-grandchildren. John was predeceased by two brothers, Stan and Wilf; and by his sister Rae. A memorial tribute will be held at The Springs Community Hall, 3400 Wilson St. in Penticton from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Friday, September 13. Johns last wish was that a donation be made to a worthy cause at your local hospital in his memory, rather than flowers. This would be sincerely appreciated. Funeral arrangements entrusted to the care of HANSONS ARBOR FUNERAL CHAPEL & CREMATORIUM. (250) 492-4202.
