JAMES ARNOLD BEDFORD FIDLER It is with great sadness that our family announces the death of our beloved father, James Arnold Bedford Fidler. Dad leaves to mourn his passing his son, Wayne; daughters, Lynn (Jim) Munn, Elaine (John) Heinze and Donna (David) Ross; grandchildren, Devon (Darcy) Cooper, Christopher (Dian) Heinze, Matthew and Graham Fidler; great-grandchildren, Branden and Aaron Heinze and Joshua and Lauryn Cooper; brothers, Lloyd (Dorothy) Fidler and Walter Fidler; sister Elsie (Jeff) Cunningham; sisters-in-law, Betty Fidler, Donna (Steve) Monchak; brother-in-law Louis (Audrey) Ducharme as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Jim was predeceased by his devoted wife Alice; son Trevor and brother Mervin. Dad was born on October 9, 1915 and lived in the Selkirk area all of his life. Dad was a Second World War Hong Kong veteran. After the war Dad worked 42 years at the Manitoba Rolling Mills. He was an avid sportsman in his earlier years. The last few years, Dad and Bud would take rides in the country watching for deer and geese. He enjoyed family gatherings, picnics and cards. A viewing will be held on Friday, September 13 (tonight) from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the Gilbart Funeral Chapel, Selkirk with cremation to follow. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, September 14 at 11:00 a.m. also in the chapel with Rev. Stephen Sharman officiating. Interment of ashes will follow in the St. Clements Cemetery. The family wishes to thank the staff and doctors at the Selkirk and District Hospital for their kindness during his time there. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Manitoba Kidney Foundation, Canadian Diabetes or Manitoba Cancer Society. Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk in care of arrangements.
