HENRY BYQUIST Peacefully, on Tuesday, July 9, 2002, at the Johnson Memorial Hospital, after a courageous battle with cancer and diabetes, Henry Byquist, aged 84 years, of Gimli, MB. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife Mildred; sons, Rick (Janis) and Wayne (Donna) stepchildren, Mark (Diane) and Rita (John) and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Henry also leaves his sister Helga; sister-in-law Chris; and nieces, Betty (Bruce) and Ruth. He was predeceased by his parents, Eric and Annamarie; his brother Charles; and sister Elsie. Henry was born on September 14, 1917 and came to Canada with his parents at an early age and lived in Manitoba his entire life. He was a lifetime grain elevator builder with N.M. Paterson and Sons Ltd. for 46 years, including his service with the Army during the Second World War, retiring as construction superintendent in 1981. Henry and Mildred spent many happy summers in Sandy Hook and Gimli with their family and numerous friends and many happy winters in Texas and Mexico. He will be missed by his many friends and extended family. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 13 at 2:00 p.m. in the Gimli Lutheran Church, with Pastor George Johnson officiating. A private family interment of ashes will take place in the Gimli Community Cemetery. Gilbart Funeral Home, Gimli, in care of arrangements.
