MYKOLA (NICK) ROMANEC

Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMYKOLA (NICK) ROMANEC Mykola (Nick) Romanec, born April 15, 1915 in Limna, Ukraine, of parents Dmytro and Yustina, peacefully passed away at Seven Oaks Hospital September 11, 2002. Mykola was born into a family of six children all of whom predeceased him. He spent his years during the Second World War working as a forced labourer in Germany. Following the Second World War, he met and married Kateryna Klaczko (predeceased in November, 1999). In November, 1950, they, along with their two children, immigrated to Canada and settled in Winnipeg where they had two more children. Nick worked for the City of Winnipeg, retiring in 1985. He was an active member of the Ukrainian Evangelical Baptist church where his faith in the Lord Jesus Christ grew. The last two and a half years of his life he resided at the Holy Family Nursing Home where he was well cared for, to whom appreciation and thanks is given. He is survived by his four children, Anne (Anatoly) Panchenko, Eugene, Maria Moseychuk and John (Carrie) grandchildren, Richard (Cheryl), Sheilagh (Stefan), Mark (Kelli), Kristine, Natalie, Madelaine, Jessica, Sarah, Timothy, and Luke; and great-grandchildren, Dominik, Mykayla, and Megan. Prayers will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, September 13 at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St., Winnipeg. Funeral service will be held at the Ukrainian Evangelical Baptist Church, 300 Parr St. (corner Redwood and Parr) September 14 at 10:00 a.m. Interment to follow at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens. Rev. Dr. John Tkachuk and Rev. Alexandre Andrusyshyn officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Nicks memory to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, 301-352 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB R3B 2H8.
