MARJORIE MABEL MCQUAY (nee LATIMER) Died peacefully on July 4, 2002 in Deloraine Hospital. Marjorie was born on June 12, 1912 at Treherne, MB, the daughter of Robert and Mabel Latimer. Marjorie grew up in the Arbroth district on the family farm. She married Joe McQuay on June 5, 1941 in Winnipeg. She and her husband farmed until 1949 at which time they moved to Treherne. In 1953 the family moved to Medora, MB where Joe worked for Manitoba Pool Elevators. While living in Medora, Marjorie was active in the Medora U.C.W. and Womens Institute. While in the W.I., her home served as a meeting place for the history book committee, "Through the Years". She also boarded teachers for many years. She was a Sunday School teacher, an explorer leader and a life member of Dove Rebeca Lodge. In 1992, she moved to the Centennial Apartments in Deloraine. She enjoyed many hours of visiting with friends and neighbours and helping with crafts and crocheting afghans. Marj served as a board member for congregate meals of Centennial Apartments. Marj celebrated her 90th birthday on June 12, 2002 surrounded by family and friends. She is survived by her daughter Joan Brown of Wanless, MB and her family Darrell (Janine) of Winnipeg and Wendy of The Pas. Her son Wilson McQuay (Adeline) of Swan River and their children, Alan McQuay (Rose) and children Darcy, Allison and Joey of Red Deer, AB, Bruce McQuay (Carla) of Red Deer, Colleen Chevrefils (Rick) and their children, Brett and Mathew of Camp Borden, Pat Fisher, her daughter Jessica, Greg Fisher, Robert Fisher (Lucy) their children, Leslie, Brittany of Winnipeg, Sheryl (Rick) and their children, Anika and Keanna of Prince George, BC and sister Merle Nesbitt of Treherne as well as many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Joe; parents, Robert and Mabel Latimer; brothers, Wilson, Bert and Fred; sisters, Elizabeth and Hazel. Funeral service was held in Deloraine United Church on July 7, with interment in Medora Cemetery. Smith Funeral Home in care of arrangements.
