MARION MOZART Peacefully on July 3, 2002 at her home surrounded by her loved ones, Marion (Meril) Mozart passed away at the age of 96. She was predeceased by her husband Hymie in 1989. Meril will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her daughters, Evelyn Gurvey (Harry) and Mindy Cantor (Norman) grandchildren, Martin Gurvey (Brenda), Gayla Schwartz (Ken), Alan Gurvey, Howard Cantor (Stephen) and Judy Cantor; great-grandchildren, Faren, Marli and Harlan Gurvey, Rayna, Lisa, Carly, Alison and Lindsey Schwartz and Max Cantor. She is also survived by her sister-in-law Vera Fleishman and many nieces, nephews and friends. Marion was an inspiration to all who knew her, always showing an infectious zest of life, unrelenting determination and above all, an inordinate amount of love and caring. Her will to "keep up," along with her positive disposition left everyone who came in contact with her in awe. Of course, she was known and well appreciated for her prolific cooking and baking. Marion was a life member of the Queen Esther Chapter of Hadassah-Wizo, and enjoyed attending the Gwen Sector Creative Living Centre and the Shaarey Zedek Adult Leisure Group. Funeral services were held at Shaarey Zedek Synagogue on July 5, with interment at the Shaarey Zedek Cemetery. Pallbearers were Martin Gurvey, Gayla Schwartz, Alan Gurvey, Howard Cantor, Jerry Fleishman, Jerry Sawyer and Harlan Gurvey. Honorary pallbearers were Harry Gurvey, Harvey Sawyer, Burton Bass, Ken Schwartz, Harold Fleishman and Harry Gelfant. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the "Marion and Hymie Mozart Memorial Endowment" at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. (942-3085)
