MARJORIE McLARTY (nee WILKINSON) After a courageous battle with cancer, Marjorie passed away peacefully on July 10, 2002. She leaves to mourn her devoted husband of 52 years William; her daughters, Gail Kasprick (Murray) and Glenda McLarty; her sons, Barry (Susan) and Brian (Vicki) her grandchildren, Sean and Scott Kasprick, Jennifer, Jenny, Ian, and Michelle McLarty. She is also survived by her most beloved brothers, Glen Wilkinson (Marilyn) of Penticton, BC, and Bill (Karen) of Toronto, ON. Marj was predeceased by her mother Margaret in 1975 and her father Vernon in 1982. Mom was born on June 10, 1929 in Bede, MB where she resided until moving to Arden in 1940. Her years in Arden held many fond memories that she cherished her whole life. In 1947 she moved to Winnipeg where she worked for Eatons and MTS. In 1949 she met Bill and they were married on August 5, 1950. From 1969 to 1979 Mom worked at the Health Sciences Centre as the Assistant Director of Admitting. Dads work then took them to Brandon, Thunder Bay and Trail, but Winnipeg was always considered home. Upon retiring in 1995 they were thrilled to be back home near children and grandchildren. Mom was an avid 10-pin bowler who won many awards including travelling to Milwaukee and Denver to represent the province. She was also a very talented knitter, and was proud to see family wearing the many sweaters, hats and mitts she made. She was a caring and loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister who is deeply loved and will be profoundly missed. Special thanks to the Gold Surgical Team at HSC, the Palliative Care Unit at St. Boniface, and home care nurses Darlene, Marlene, Ann, Carrie and Norma. Also thanks to Ruth, Nadine, longtime friends Hugh and Nettie Spiers, and all who spent time with her these past months. A memorial service will be held on Monday, July 15 at 2:00 p.m. at Klassen Funeral Chapel, 1897 Henderson Hwy., Winnipeg. A family interment will take place in Neepawa, MB. If friends so desire, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to CancerCare Manitoba. Arrangements entrusted to Klassen Funeral Chapel, 338-0331.
