ALVIRA FRIESEN Peacefully at home, Alvira left us for her heavenly home early on Sunday morning, July 14. Memories of her will be cherished by her husband Ron and children, Scott, Carla, Mark and Steve. Alvira was born in Neuland, Paraguay, February 6, 1953, the daughter of Peter and Justina Froese. The Froese family immigrated to Winnipeg in 1957, where Alvira spent her growing up years. Early in life she came to a faith decision and was baptized into the congregation of North Kildonan M.B. Church. Her artistic flair became apparent, and she was involved in behind-the-scenes work for school plays and other events. After graduating from MBCI, she attended the University of Manitoba in the Faculty of Fine Arts. Alvira met Ron at a church function and then again at DeFehr Furniture. She had always wanted to marry a big, strong farm boy, so she readily accepted Rons invitation to their first date. Their courtship lasted 21 months and they were married in the fall of 1972 it would have been a 30-year marriage this September. They were blessed - and challenged - by four children, who all helped to make a home characterized by laughter. The Friesen family never needed an excuse for a party. In late 1997 Alvira was diagnosed with cancer. Despite surgery, treatments, and lifestyle changes, her humour and outlook on life never altered. Cancer slowly began to take a toll on her life, and four and a half years later she traded in her earthly body for her heavenly one. She left behind a legacy of joy in all circumstances. She loved her family deeply and revelled in their talents and accomplishments. Awesome Wife, Awesome Mom, Awesome Friend we will miss her. The funeral will be held at North Kildonan M.B. Church (Springfield and Gateway) on Friday, July 19 at 1:00 p.m., with the burial in Niverville at 4:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, friends may wish to donate to Canadian Sunday School Mission or to Youth For Christ ministries. Arrangements entrusted to Klassen Funeral Chapel, 338-0331.
