BERNARD J. (BARNEY) BRADSHAW Peacefully after a long struggle with C.O.P.D. (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease), Barney passed away at the Riverview Health Centre on July 15, 2002 with his family at his side. Barney was born in Winnipeg and lived there all his life. He attended St. Edwards School and St. Pauls High School. He served in the Royal Canadian Navy from 1939 to 1945, and saw active duty in the North Atlantic. After his discharge in 1945, he worked for CP Rail until his retirement in 1983. Barney was predeceased by his parents, Henry and Helen Bradshaw; and his youngest brother John. He leaves to mourn his loss his wife Georgette; his son Gregory of Winnipeg; his daughter Jo-Ann (Doug) Brownlee of Newmarket, ON; his daughter Carolyn (Phil Kendrick) of Winnipeg; and his grandchildren, Cody, Dana and Nicole Brownlee who were the love of his life. Three brothers, Jim, Philip and Frank, also survive him. Barney was a caring and devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend and will be greatly missed by all. The family would like to thank the nurses on 2E at Riverview Health Centre for the care they gave Barney during the short time he was there. The family would also like to thank his lifelong friend Sandy Fraser and his brother-in-law Fred Picard who were always there for us. In accordance with Barneys wishes, cremation has taken place. A funeral mass will take place at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church in Charleswood on Thursday, July 18 at 10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers a donation in Barneys memory can be made to the Manitoba Lung Association, 629 McDermot Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3A 1P6.
