CLARA KATRINA NORDIEN 1901 - 2002 Clara Katrina (nee Bystrom) of Pinewood Court, passed away peacefully on July 16, 2002, with her daughter at her bedside. Clara had celebrated her 101st birthday with family and friends on June 2. Born in Helsingland, Sweden, the youngest of six children, she immigrated to Canada at age 16 with her brothers and sisters. In Winnipeg, she met and married Mauritz Nordien, also born in Sweden. In 1936, after 20 years in Winnipeg, they moved to Toronto, where Clara remained until 1993 when she relocated to Thunder Bay. She was predeceased by her husband; her three children, Myrtle Chisholm, Wilbert and Robert Nordien; all of her siblings, Amanda Ekenberg, Anna Ramstead, Gust, Nicholas and John Bystrom; and by one grandchild Paulette Markovich. Clara is survived by her daughter Vi King; grandchildren, David (Celeste) and Derek (Barb) King and families in Thunder Bay; Donna (Ray) Roussy and family of Surrey, BC; Howard, Bradley (Susan) and Brian (Nadine) Nordien and families of Toronto; John (Arden) Nordien and family of Winnipeg; and Janice (Larry) Hamilton and family of Crystal City, MB; Dana (Linda) Chisholm, Debbie (Terry) Oldham and Cathy (Dennis) Brockman in the United States. Sixteen great-grandchildren, two great-great-granddaughters, as well as nieces and nephews also survive. As per Claras wishes, cremation has taken place.
