BERYL ELIZABETH HEMENWAY (ANDERSON) DRENNAN Peacefully on Friday, July 19, 2002, at Oakview Place in her 90th year, Beryl Elizabeth Hemenway (Anderson) Drennan, "Bunny," beloved wife of the late Ian Hugh Drennan (1986), loving mother of Michael and Margaret Drennan of Stittsville, ON, Hugh and Mary Drennan of Guelph, ON, and Terry Drennan of Winnipeg; and loving Granny to Steven and Jacinda Drennan of Stittsville, Kim Drennan and Roger deBrum of Barrie, ON, Christine Drennan and Chris Cook of Ottawa, Scott Drennan and Rebecca Hogue of Kanata, ON, and Catherine and Kurt Schmidt of Halifax, NS. Bunny will be sadly missed by her eldest sister Myrtle Wells, also of Oakview Place; many nieces and nephews including Diana and Fred Zeggil of St. Anne, MB, and by Bonnie Shore, dear friend of Terry Drennan. She was predeceased by her sister Dorothy Aiken and brother Cameron who went missing in action in the Second World War. Bunny was born in Calgary to Ethel and Fred Anderson, moving to Manitoba at the age of three where she grew up in Charleswood on the family homestead. After her marriage to Ian in 1940, she lived for almost 50 years on Douglas Park Road in St. James during which time she and Ian designed and built their own home. As well during this time, they were active members of the Pine Ridge Golf Club where Bunny was a winner of several tournaments. They also were keen campers, pulling their trailer on many trips through Canada and spent one summer using a caravan to tour the British Isles. Bunny, a gifted artist and craftsperson, was a long-standing member of the Crafts Guild of Manitoba, where she was particularly adept at using wool, carding, spinning and dying her own yarn and producing many different items. Even after her eyesight failed, she maintained her ability to knit, and a basket of knitting in progress was always by her side. At Bunnys request, her body has been donated to the University of Manitoba, Department of Anatomy. The family invites their friends to attend a memorial service in the Multi-purpose Room at Oakview Place, 2395 Ness Ave., on Monday, July 22 at 7:00 p.m., with the Rev. Aubrey Hemminger of the Church of St. Stephen and St. Bede. The family extends its sincere thanks to Mums faithful visitor, Brenda Moate, and to the dedicated staff of 3rd Floor Oakview Place who have provided such excellent care over the past six years. Flowers are gratefully declined. Memorial donations may be made to "Sleeping Children around the World," 28 Pinehurst Cres., Islington, ON M9A 3A5, or to the charity of your choice.
