JOHN TOMCHAK It is with great sadness the family announces the passing of John Tomchak on Friday, September 13, 2002, peacefully at home. Left to cherish Johns memory are his son Roland (Lois) Tomchak; daughter Diane (Victor) Woloskoski; grandchildren, Christopher Tomchak, Venus Tomchak, Kathy (Dennis) Okolita, Leah (Jim) Furedi, Tracy (Dave) Hills, Stacey Woloskoski; and great-grandchildren, Brianna and Brooke Furedi. John was predeceased by his wife Irene Tomchak (nee Beaulieu) parents, Leon and Michalina (Obie) Tomchak; his sister Pauline Derkach; and his brother Alex Tomchak. Dad was born June 24, 1917 in Carrick, MB. He moved to Fisher Branch in 1931 and was employed with Joe Rutchka as a carpenters assistant. Later he worked for the Fisher Branch Flour Mill until he secured his chauffeurs license. Dad became a long distance truck driver and was employed by many different companies. Polansky Transfer, Barretts Transfer, Comptons Transfer and Alex Transfer are just a few of his past employers. Dad became known as "Long John" by all the communities around Fisher Branch. During this time, Dad married Irene Beaulieu, and they had two children, Diane and Roland. The family moved to Winnipeg in 1953, and Dad became a self-employed truck driver until his retirement in 1987. Prayers will be held on Monday, September 16 at 7:00 p.m. in the Edward J. Coutu Funeral Chapel, located at 680 Archibald St., with Fr. Ron Leger officiating. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, September 17 at 10:00 a.m., also in the Edward J. Coutu Funeral Chapel, with interment to follow in Badger, MB. Pallbearers will be Christopher Tomchak, Stacey Woloskoski, Dave Hills, David Hill, Ed Belinski, and Dennis Okolita. The family would like to take this opportunity to thank all the home care workers who looked after Dad. We all love you Dad and will miss you very much. Bucka, you will forever be in our hearts and thoughts. Arrangements have been entrusted to: EDWARD J. COUTU LTD. 680 Archibald Street 253-5086
