PETER STANLEY GREEN July 11, 1922 - July 22, 2002 Suddenly, but peacefully, Peter Stanley Green passed away at the St. Boniface General Hospital. A devoted and loving husband and father, Peter is lovingly remembered by his wife Rita, and daughter Pamela. He is also survived by several cousins in England, and by Ritas niece, nephew, cousins and their families. Peter was predeceased by his parents, Matthew and Gertrude Green. Peter was born in London, England on July 11, 1922. He grew up in Radyr, Wales, attending school in Cardiff, Wales, and in North Devon, England. He served in the RAF during the Second World War as an aircraft mechanic, being stationed in Winnipeg, and Weyburn, SK. It was during his time in Winnipeg that he met Rita. They were married in Birdham, Sussex, England on February 21, 1953. In 1954, he immigrated to Canada with Rita and infant daughter Pamela. Peter worked for 31 years with Manitoba Hydro and its predecessors, Manitoba Hydro Electric Board and Manitoba Power Commission, retiring in 1985. A quiet and gentle person, Peter enjoyed gardening, encouraging his tomato plants and hyacinth bulbs. He also enjoyed travelling, driving throughout Canada, and travelling throughout his beloved Great Britain, Switzerland and Austria. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at the Church of St. Stephen - St. Bede, 99 Turner Ave. at Mount Royal Road on Saturday, July 27 at 11:00 a.m. Special thanks are extended to all the doctors and nurses at Grace General Hospital who cared for Peter, in particular Dr. Inglis, Sam and Linda, and to the doctors and nurses of the SICU at St. Boniface General Hospital, in particular, Dr. Taylor, and Greg.
