RUTH MARION G. MOZEL (nee BROWNBRIDGE) On July 19, 2002 at Johnson Memorial Hospital in Gimli, Mrs. Joseph Mozel, the former Ruth Brownbridge, beloved wife of Joe, passed away. Ruth was born in Winnipeg and lived all her life in Elmwood and East Kildonan. She attended Glen Elm, Lord Selkirk, St. Johns High School and United College (University of Winnipeg). As a young woman, Ruth was a C.G.I.T. leader and active in Young Peoples. She was a member of Gordon-King Memorial United Church. Ruth always wanted to teach, and did for 37 years. She taught at Norquay and Lord Selkirk Schools. She was well known in the field of public speaking in the adult evening classes at St. Johns and Kelvin for 32 years. She had a public speaking alumni for 25 years. She was very proud of her public speaking classes and alumni. Ruth was a past president and life member of The Wednesday Morning Musicale. Later Ruth was a volunteer teacher in lip-reading at The Deaf Centre, Lions Place and Lions Manor. She was a member of The Winnipeg League for the Hard of Hearing. Ruth enjoyed her cottage at Matlock and her friends in the area. She attended the Winnipeg Beach United Church, and for 10 years assisted the summer church in Matlock - being in charge of the music for the services. She is survived by her husband Joe whom she married in 1958; nieces, Mrs. Kathryn Wach (Harry), Mrs. Eleanor Thomas (Norman) and many grand-nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, a sister and two brothers. Our appreciation to Dr. Zeph Wiesenthal, all the staff at Johnson Memorial Hospital in Gimli, to Mary and Gerry Robson for their friendship and kind support, to all her friends, especially Ivy and Rod Horne and Marion and Doug Wood for over 60 years of friendship. The funeral service will be held at Thomson Funeral Chapels, 669 Broadway in Winnipeg, on Wednesday, July 24 at 11:00 a.m., Rev. Raymond McMurray officiating. A memorial service will be held at a later date at the Winnipeg Beach United Church. Flowers gratefully declined.
