NELLIE PETROSKE Peacefully at her residence, Gold West Centennial Lodge, Nellie passed away on Sunday, July 21, 2002. Born in Souris, MB on March 12, 1910 to Nicholas and Bronia Kaban, the second of seven children. On January 10, 1936 she married Stan Petroske. Stan was an engineer with the CPR. They resided in Souris until 1958, at which time they transferred to Winnipeg. Nellie was an excellent seamstress. Her talents extended to embroidery, flower arranging and baking. A devout Catholic, Nellie worked diligently for her parish in Souris and then as a founding member of St. Paul the Apostle parish in Winnipeg. Stan died in 1971. Nellie then moved in with her widowed sister Lillian (Pal). They resided together for 27 years. In February 1998 Nellie joined the community at Golden West Centennial Lodge. She is survived by her sister Lillian Duffield, sister Lucy Froud (Ken), of Montreal, niece Donna Musgrave (Cal) their children David Musgrave (Jane) children Catherine and Angus, Terry Musgrave (Christine) and son Gregory, Kristine Ward (Ray) sons Bryce, Taylor and Alex, niece Susan Watters (Keith) their daughter Marlo, niece Janice Watters (George) their children Kystal, Kristian, Kyle, Rebecca and Sebastian, niece Marlene Heck (Jeurgen) and their son Terry niece Rosemary Doyle (Jay) children Travis and Tracy of Streetsville, ON, niece Bronia (Bunny) Barlow (Gary) daughters Lisa and Andrea of West Vancouver, niece Margaret Froud of Montreal. Nellie was predeceased by her parents Nicholas and Bronia Kaban, brothers Hank Kabban, his wife Thelma, Mike Kabbin, his wife Mabel, Fred Kaban, his wife Ruth, her husband Stan Petroske, her brother-in-law Frank Duffield and sister Mary who died in childhood. Nellie was always happiest when sharing family activities and particularly enjoyed the "wee ones". Prayers will take place Tuesday, July 23 7:30 p.m., in the Leatherdale Gardiner Funeral Chapel, 1858 Portage Ave. A funeral mass will take place Wednesday, July 24 at 11:00 a.m., at St. Paul the Apostle Church, 2400 Portage Ave. Interment to follow in Assumption Cemetery.
