KENNETH SYDNEY WILKINS Ken passed away peacefully with family by his side on July 21, 2002 after a lengthy battle with cancer. He will be forever remembered by his best friend and wife of 52 years, Carmel; son John (Pat) and daughter Jackie (Bill Plantje) and his five grandchildren, Brea, Dana, Stacia, Scott and Kyla. Ken was born in Portsmouth, England in 1929. He brought his family to Canada in 1954 in the hope they would have a better education and future. He served in The Canadian Provost Corps for three years. In 1957, he joined the Prudential Assurance Company Limited and, after 40 years, was compelled to retire due to ill health. He was Past President of the Life Underwriters Association and the Estate Planning Council of Manitoba. Ken was a good-hearted man who enjoyed special times with friends and family. He especially enjoyed the laughter around the dinner table with his children and grandchildren. Ken and Carmel loved to travel and took each grandchild on a special trip to England and parts of Europe. Ken was famous for his quick wit and puns. He was well respected by his many wonderful friends who will remember him fondly for his kindness. A Memorial Service to celebrate Kens life will be held on Saturday, July 27 at 11:00 a.m. at Green Acres Funeral Chapel, Highway No. 1 East at Navin Road. Deepest appreciation to Dr. Paul Galbraith, Dr. Andrew Maksymiuk, and the staff in the Chemotherapy Room at CancerCare Manitoba. Special thanks to the staff in the Palliative Care Unit at Riverview Health Centre for their care and support. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to CancerCare Manitoba, 675 McDermot Ave., Winnipeg, R3E 0V9 GREEN ACRES FUNERAL CHAPEL 222-3241
