DORIS MAY JOHNSON (nee HUNT) Doris passed away peacefully with her family at her side at St. Boniface Hospital on July 13, 2002. Her husband, of 56 years, Cliff; sons, Terry and Craig; sister Verna; daughters-in-law, Joan and Sylvie; grandchildren, Brian, Lindsay and Victoria; and many nieces and nephews will lovingly remember her. Her parents, Sylvester and Elizabeth Hunt and many brothers and sisters predeceased Doris. She was born in Portage la Prairie on May 31, 1921 and attended Ossawa School in the Poplar Point area. She married Cliff Johnson on July 12, 1946 and moved to the Manson area where they farmed until retirement in 1980. Upon retirement Doris and Cliff moved to Elkhorn, where Doris enjoyed playing bingo, shuffle board, cards, and travelling. She also kept a bountiful garden, which she shared with friends and neighbours, and enjoyed feeding whoever stopped in for a visit. She also went to ceramic classes, kept up with her curling at which some people say they never beat her, and took great pride in her home and yard. Her family was a source of great pride to her and she enjoyed attending her grandchildrens many events and took great pride in their accomplishments. Funeral services were held at Carscadden Funeral Home in Moosomin, SK on July 18 with Irene Cousins officiating. Cremation will follow and interment will take place at a later date in Manson Cemetery. Everyone attending the service was considered honorary pallbearers.
