ELEANE SHIELDS Peacefully after a lengthy illness our beloved mother and grandmother passed away on July 24, 2002, at the age of 80 years, with her family by her side. She was predeceased by her loving husband Charlie in 1991, and her brother Carl in the year 2000. She leaves to mourn her children, Linda Shields (Torz), Marlene Henley, Jim Shields (Debbie), Dan Shields (Colleen), and Debbi Walsh (Jack) her grandchildren, David and Jim Torz, Jennifer and Megan Henley, Jason Shields and Kelly Walsh; and her brother Jack; sisters-in-law, B and Anne in Nova Scotia as well as her many friends. Eleane lived a long and full life, touching all who knew her with her kindness and concern for others. She was an inspiration to all. Her love for her family knew no bounds. Eleane was born in Bridgewater, NS, and settled in Winnipeg in 1965. During her life she participated in many organizations. Eleane was an avid gardener who loved to gather bouquets from her flower beds to place around her home. Viewing and prayers will be held at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave., on July 28 at 5:30 p.m. Funeral mass will be held at St. Charles Catholic Parish on July 29 at 11:00 a.m. with interment to follow in Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens. Reception will follow in the Chapel Lawn Reception Centre. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to CancerCare Manitoba, ON109 - 675 McDermot Ave., Winnipeg, MB, R3E 0V9, an organization in which she became involved because of her love for her daughter Linda.
