ISABEL MARY FOX August 13, 1924 - July 23, 2002 Peacefully, following a brief yet intense battle with cancer, Isabel passed away at Victoria General Hospital in Winnipeg, MB. Isabel was the youngest child of the late Benjamin and Charlotte Vince. She was raised in Winnipeg and Minnedosa, MB. In her teenage years, she met Bruce Fox, a young Australian Air Force officer. They married in January, 1943 and began their married life in Winnipeg. Following a move to Melbourne, Australia in 1944, they returned to Winnipeg in 1948 to raise their increasing family. Upon Bruces death in March, 1961, Isabel began her working career. She worked for Misericordia General Hospital, Seaway-Midwest, and Livingston Mutual. In 1979, Isabel moved from Winnipeg to Vancouver, BC. There, she worked for Western Oil Implements until her retirement in 1989. Upon retiring, Isabel returned to Winnipeg to be close to family, friends and the family summer cottage at Gull Lake. Throughout her life, Isabel enjoyed bingo, bowling, and weekends at the family cottage. She was also a longstanding member of the Sweet Adelines. Later in her life, she enjoyed playing the slots at the casinos, making several trips with friends to the United States. Isabel was predeceased by her parents; brothers, Jimmy and Irving; husband Bruce in addition to her son Don (October 1998) and daughter Pauline (September 1999). She is survived by her sisters, Margaret (Edmonton, AB) and Betty (Westbank, BC) daughter Judy (Keith) in Kelowna, BC, daughter Wendy (Winnipeg) daughter-in-law Linda (Delta, BC), son-in-law Bob (Winnipeg), son Kevin (Peachland, BC) and numerous nieces and nephews. Also left to mourn are her grandchildren, Lisa (Kevin), Kim (Nigel), Chris (Angie), Trevor (Andrea), Heath, Jill (Glendon) and Rona; as well as great-grandchildren, Shelby, Mica and Shaun. At Isabels request, no memorial service will be held. She also requested that her body be donated to the University of Manitoba Faculty of Medicine for the promotion of medical research. Moms friends and friends of the family are invited to attend an informal reception to be held at 21 Boulton Bay, Main Floor on Monday, July 29 at 2:00 p.m. Special thanks from the family to Dr. Heather Domke and the 5th floor staff of Victoria General Hospital for the care and compassion provided to Mom during her illness. In lieu of flowers, if friends so wish, memorial donations may be made to Cancer Care Manitoba or a charity of your choice.
