KATHLEEN HYKAWAY (nee KAWCHUK) It is with great sadness that the family announces the peaceful passing of our Mom, and Baba on Thursday, July 25, 2002 at the Seven Oaks General Hospital. Mom was born on Sunday, April 10, 1921 in Winnipeg, MB. The youngest daughter of Michael, and Oksana Kawchuk, she was raised on the family farm in Old Kildonan. She was predeceased by her parents, Michael and Oksana; her brother John; and sister Nel Levak. Mom leaves to cherish her memory her sons, Ted and Jack Hykaway; daughter Karen Romanoff; daughters-in-law, Molly and Avril Hykaway; son-in-law Barrie Romanoff; her grandchildren, Trevor, Kristine, Jennifer, Michael, Susan, Cindy; and great-grandchildren; her sister Julie Primok; and numerous nieces and nephews. Mom was a very special and talented person. Her first priority was always her family. She especially loved to spend time with her grandchildren, and was very proud of their accomplishments. Mom spent hours at her sewing machine lovingly creating special things for all of us. She was a generous person, and had a great sense of humour. She loved to laugh, and always had a great joke to share with family and friends. We will miss her wisdom and guidance. At Moms request cremation has already taken place, and a private interment for the immediate family will be held on Tuesday, July 30. Friends are welcome to join with the family in a celebration, and remembrance of her life on Tuesday, July 30 from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at her home, 247 Arthur Wright Cres. Special thanks to all the staff at the Seven Oaks General Hospital for their care and compassion. A heartfelt thank you to all our family, and friends, for their love, and support at this difficult time. In lieu of flowers, donations in Moms memory may be made to CancerCare Manitoba, or the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
