JACOB G. LEPPKY On Wednesday, July 24, 2002 at the St. Pierre Hospital, Mr. Jacob G. Leppky of Niverville passed away at the age of 92 years. He is survived by numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. At the age of 17, Jeanne Buhr came to live with the Leppkys and both Jacob and Helen considered her to be the daughter they never had. After Jeanne married Herman Rempel, and had a family of their own, they became an extension of the Leppky family. Mr. Leppky played a strong influential role in their lives, and had a wonderful grandparenting relationship with their children. He was predeceased by his wife Helen (nee Doerksen) on December 12, 1997; two brothers, William G. Leppky, Abe G. Leppky; twin half sisters, Susanna and Anne; two half brothers, John P. Leppky, Peter P. Leppky. Jacob owned and operated the B/A Service Station in Niverville for 28 years and retired at the age of 57 years. During the following 30 years, Jacob and his wife Helen became very involved with numerous evangelistic organizations, including Child Evangelism, Union Gospel Mission, Back to the Bible, and the Gospel Crusaders. He was a founding member and strong supporter of Word of Life Mission Church serving in many leadership capacities. Funeral service will be held on Monday, July 29 at 1:00 p.m. at the Word of Life Mission Church in Niverville with Pastor Tasos Xanthopoulus officiating. Interment will follow in the Niverville Cemetery. Viewing will take place on Sunday, July 28 between 6:00 and 7:00 p.m. at Loewen Funeral Chapel and at the church prior to the service.
