Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJAKE KLASSEN It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of their father and grandfather, Jacob Klassen, who passed away unexpectedly on July 26, 2002 at the St. Boniface Hospital at the age of 79 years. Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, July 31 at the First Mennonite Church at Notre Dame and Alverstone, Winnipeg at 10:30 a.m. Interment in Glen Eden Memorial Gardens. Jake was born in Einlage in the Ukraine on May 25, 1923 and came to Canada in 1949 with his family to Winnipeg. Jake was predeceased by his wife Katharina (Tina) Klassen (nee Penner) in 1994; his parents, Heinrich and Katharina Klassen (nee Martens). Jake is survived by his children, daughter Rita (Doug) Day of Calgary and son Jake (Patricia) Klassen of Winnipeg; five grandchildren, Blake and Travis Day of Calgary, Jayme, Jason and Lorilea Klassen of Winnipeg; Jakes friend Peggy Derksen; his brother Heinrich; and his sister Katharina (Tina) both in Russia. Jake owned and operated his own business under Klassens Plumbing and later as Sierra Plumbing for many years.
