MARY CARSTENS (nee JOHNSON) Peacefully on July 26, 2002, at the Grace Hospital, Mary Carstens passed away. Born in Chatfield, MB in 1916, Mary, one of seven children, grew up on the family farm. The values instilled in her from her earliest childhood, hard work, humility, concern for others, continued to dominate her whole life. In Winnipeg, she met and married Edmund Carstens with whom she shared her life until his death in 1986. Together, they raised a family of four children in the West End. Quiet but strong, Mary was always willing to help others, by baking for her family and friends, making desserts for family occasions, and helping her friends at Betelstadur, where she spent her last years. Mary is survived by her sisters; Ellen, Kay and Jennie. She is lovingly remembered by her son Bob, wife Sandy and children, Lindsay and Tracy; by her daughter Dale Wiebach, and her children, Jennifer, Christine and Melanie, great-granddaughters, Larissa and Courtney and great-grandson Garrett; by her daughter Terry, husband Frank Martin and their children, Christopher, Andrew, Daniel and Edythe and great-granddaughter Emily and by her son Fred, wife Annick and their children, Stephanie and Nathalie. Mary was predeceased by her husband Edmund, brothers, John, Julius and sister Selma. Memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, August 1, at Saint Barnabas Anglican Church, 730 McPhillips St. The family would like to thank the Grace Hospital for their kindness and support. In lieu of flowers, donations to a charity of ones choice or to The Salvation Army, P.O. Box 1932, Winnipeg, MB R3C 4W5 would be gratefully accepted. THOMSON FUNERAL CHAPELS 783-7211
