LUCY ELIZA HODGSON On Monday, July 29, 2002 at the Grace General Hospital, Lucy Hodgson, aged 92, passed away peacefully after a brief illness. She was predeceased by her beloved husband George of 59 years in 1999. She was the loving and much loved mother of Merle (Bob) Oddson, Mary Houston and Tom (Dianne) Hodgson. Her memory will also be chldren, Blair (Sarah) Oddson, and Bruce Oddson, Andrew Hodgson; and erished by her grandchistep grandchildren, Donald (Kit) Houston, their children, Blake and Sarah, and Kimberly Dane and daughter Meg. She is also remembered by her nephew Jack Fleming and family of Saskatoon. Lucy was born in Indian Head, SK in 1910, a child of pioneer prairie stock that instilled her with a strong sense of family. She will be remembered as being the heart and soul of her family and for being our inspiration during the events of our lives. In 1939, Lucy and George were married in Ottawa. They later moved to Regina before settling in Winnipeg. Lucy embraced a spirited sense of adventure as she and George travelled the world. In addition to travelling extensively throughout six continents they spent two years living and working in Thailand, and made several extended trips to Brazil. Her fondest memories were of the time she spent at the family cottage in Minaki, ON where she was an avid bird watcher, nature lover and blueberry picker. Lucys final two years were spent at the Portsmouth Retirement Residence and the family would like to thank the staff and neighbours for their kindness, compassion and friendship during her time there. We also thank the 5th floor nursing staff at Grace General Hospital for their care and support over the last six weeks. At mothers request there will be no funeral service. Cremation has taken place and interment will be in the family plot at Elmwood Cemetery in a private family ceremony. If friends so desire, donations can be made in Lucys memory to the Manitoba Lung Association, 629 McDermot Ave., Winnipeg, MB, R3A 1P6. Well miss you mother and grandmother.
