RUSSELL WYNNYK Russell passed away peacefully after a lengthy illness on July 29, 2002 at the Seven Oaks General Hospital. Russell will be sadly missed by his wife of 45 years, Joan; his children, Brent (Patty), Blair (Tracy) his grandchildren, Jenna, Jessie-Lynne and Spencer; and his special uncle and aunt, Bill and Olive Cholosky. He was predeceased by his father William, mother Jessie and grandson Gordon. Russell was born in Selkirk, MB, in 1935, and later moved with his family to Winnipeg, eventually settling in the North End where he grew up making many lifelong friends. He began his working career with Winnipeg Hydro and later gained employment with Greater Winnipeg Gas where he worked for 37 years. Russell was a member of the Elmhurst Golf and Country Club and Rossmere Golf and Country Club where he enjoyed many hours of his favourite pastime. Russell embarked upon a new career, retirement, in 1995. He continued to enjoy the game of golf and also looked forward to spending winters at his home in Mesa, AZ, with Joan. Family was important to Russell and he enjoyed fixing things and spending time with his grandchildren. Everyone who knew him could spend hours telling "Russ" stories. He will be remembered for his generosity towards others. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Anthony of Padua Roman Catholic Church, 250 Burrin, on Friday, August 2 at 10:00 a.m., with Rev. Fr. Terance P. McGrath officiating. Interment to follow at Assumption Cemetery. The family would like to thank the staff at Seven Oaks Hospital, 5th floor Unit 1 and 4th floor Units 11 and 12, for their care and compassion during Russells illness.
