NICHOLAS FRANCIS KOKRAN (NICK) Peacefully, on July 31, 2002, Nick passed into eternal rest at the St. Joseph Residence. Nick was born on March 14, 1914 in Winnipeg to Joseph and Theresa Kokran. He was a very devoted husband to Sadie (Stojak) whom he married on June 16, 1951. He will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his wife of 51 years, Sadie; cherished daughter Diane Bergdahl (Mark) and his grandchildren who were his pride and joy, Bryan, Cameron and Brandi. He also leaves behind his brother Joseph and wife Nell; sisters-in-law, Anne Waletzky, Marion Stojak; brother-in-law Stan Stojak; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Nick was predeceased by his parents and older brother Martin. Nick was a devoted Catholic, belonging to St. Joseph (German) Roman Catholic Church, since his childhood. He received his education at St. Josephs School, St. Johns High School and St. Pauls College. He was a member of the Parochial Society and Golden Agers. Nick loved sports, watching and participating. He was a member of St. Josephs Mens Club on Main Street where he had been treasurer and secretary. He bowled 5 and 10 pin there. He played hockey and Ward 3 Community baseball. Nick retired from Manitoba Sausage (Winnipeg Old Country) in March 1979, after 44 years of employment. Sadie and Diane would like to extend their most sincere thanks to the nurses, staff and volunteers on the second floor at St. Joseph Residence for the excellent care, warmth and compassion that they gave Nick during his stay. God bless you all. Thank you also to Drs. Joseph Kettner, L. Cheung and M. Gorski. Memorial service will be held on Tuesday, August 6 at 10:00 a.m. in the chapel of Glen Eden Funeral Home, 4477 Main St., with Msgr. Maurice Comeault officiating. Interment will follow in Glen Eden Memorial Gardens. A gathering of family and friends will follow in the Glen Eden Reception Centre. Flowers are gratefully declined. Donations in Nicks memory may be made to St. Josephs Residence, 1149 Leila Ave., Winnipeg, MB R2P 1S6 or to a charity of choice. Lifes a wondrous journey, We travel day by day.
