ERNEST HARRY PRICE Peacefully, on Wednesday, July 31, 2002, Dad passed away in his sleep at his daughter Mary Louises home, with his beloved wife of 63 years, Chris, at his side. Ernie was predeceased by his father and mother, Harry and Alice Price; brother Jack (Bernice) sister Lura McLuckie (Alex) and brother-in-law George Currie. He will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his wife Chris; sister Gladys Currie; sons, Bill and Gerry (Barb) daughter Mary Louise Schneider (Bill) grandsons, Matthew and Travis; granddaughters, Ainsley (Eric) and Shandis; great-grandson Marc; as well as many nieces and nephews. Ernie was born in 1907 in Elmwood (Winnipeg), son of Harry and Alice Price, who immigrated to Canada in 1905 from their family home in Wales, U.K. After an early childhood in Elmwood attending Lord Selkirk School, he started his first job with the City of Winnipeg Hydro. He left Hydro in 1927 to apprentice with his father in the plumbing trade. In 1931 he bought a 1921 Model T Ford for $10.00 to drive to Carnegie Tech in Pittsburgh, to take his Engineering degree. While in the U.S., working as an Engineer and playing drums in a dance band in the evening, he met and fell in love with Aagot (Chris) Christensen. He returned to Winnipeg in 1938 with his new bride and, six months later, enlisted in the Royal Canadian Engineers to serve his country in the Second World War. He ended his service with the rank of Major in 1945. After the war, he worked on the Alcan highway to Alaska and, in 1946, bought a small sales agency for HVAC products which led to his formation of E.H. Price Limited. He actively developed the family business from 1946 to his retirement from the company in 1972. Over his 26 years at E.H. Price, he mentored many individuals and formed lifelong friendships. All of his friends and colleagues at E.H. Price will remember him fondly, with respect and appreciation. Since his retirement, he spent six months each year in Naples, FL and six months at the family cottage at Laclu, ON. Laclu was his love. He had a hobby farm and spent endless hours tending his garden, raspberry bushes and cutting the grass. His spirit will live on at Laclu. Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 2 at 1:00 p.m. in John Black Memorial United Church, 898 Henderson Hwy. at Roberta. Interment will be in Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens, 4000 Portage Ave. Pallbearers will be grandsons, Travis Price and Matthew Price-Johnson, nephews, George Currie, Harry Price, Jack Price, Doug McLuckie, Richard Price, Jason Price and Todd McLuckie. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Salvation Army, P.O. Box 1932, Winnipeg, MB R3C 3R2. THOMSON FUNERAL CHAPELS 783-7211
