WILLIAM MICHAEL LEWICKI William Michael Lewicki, aged 100 years, beloved father, grandfather and great grandfather, died Sunday, July 28, 2002 at Misericordia Place. Predeceased by his wife, Mary, in 1974, he is lovingly remembered by his daughter and son-in-law, Elizabeth and Henry Dirks; his two granddaughters and their spouses, Mary and Jeff Husband of Eden Prairie, MN, Janet and Peter Hogg of Vancouver, BC; and three great-grandchildren, Samantha, Jillian and David Husband. He will be remembered with affection by many nieces and nephews. Born on January 12, 1902, in western Ukraine, William came to Canada in 1922. Although never forgetting his roots, he became an ardent Canadian, serving his beloved new country with diligence and integrity. He firmly believed Canada the greatest country in the world. In 1928, William began working for the Canadian Pacific Railway, Weston Shops and retired after 38 years of conscientious service. His strong work ethic was an inspiration to his family. He maintained his keen interest in world affairs, gardening and music, especially choral singing, until his late nineties. In 2000, failing health brought him to Misericordia Place where he was shown great love and compassion. Just as William was deeply grateful for all the good care, so, too, the family thanks the staff of Robins Way (3rd floor) for the great kindness shown to William. Following his wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial service, celebrating Gods goodness to William, will be held in early September. For Thou, Lord, art good, and ready to forgive, and plenteous in mercy unto all them that call upon Thee. (Psalm 86.v.5) Let Thy mercy, O Lord, be upon us according as we hope in Thee.
