MARJORIE ELEANOR McFARLANE On August 2, 2002 at the Grace General Hospital, Marjorie McFarlane passed away peacefully at the age of 86. Marjorie was born in Winnipeg on December 15, 1915. She was predeceased by her beloved husband Dr. Ronald H. McFarlane, her son Hugh, her parents, Frederick and Delilah Marter; and her sister Grace Hicks. She is survived by her sons, David (Verla) and Bruce (Maureen) and daughters, Heather Watson (Allan) and Evelyn McFarlane; as well as 13 grandchildren; and sister Doris Bennett. Marjorie graduated from the University of Manitoba with a Bachelor of Science in Home Economics. She became a Registered Dietitian after completing post-graduate work at the Royal Jubilee Hospital in Victoria, BC. During the Second World War she served as dietitian at the Camp Hill Royal Military Hospital in Halifax, NS, while her husband was at sea. Marjorie had a passion for reading history and archaeology and enjoyed her many travels with Ron. She dearly loved spending her summers with her family at the cottage at Falcon Lake. She enjoyed gardening, swimming, and playing bridge. For many years, Marjorie was an active member of her sorority as well as the University Womens Club. Marjorie was a devoted wife and mother and we will forever cherish our memories of her. A memorial service will take place at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. on Sunday, August 4 at 3:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Salvation Army Memorial Fund, 500-55 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB, R3C 1L8.
