JANINA STANISLAWA WIKTOR (nee WOJCIKOWSKI) It is with great sorrow we announce the passing of our sister, aunt, great-aunt, great-great-aunt, and sister-in-law, on Friday, August 2, 2002, at her residence. Janina was predeceased by her mother Rozalia, husband Augustyn (1991) and infant sister Christine. Her father was arrested in 1939 at the outbreak of the Second World War. She never saw him again. She leaves to mourn her brother in England, Stanley Wilson (Gladys) nephew Terry (Val) and great-great-nephew Jack; brother Herman (Terry) nieces and nephews, Christine, Lucille (Peter), Tom (Brenda), Greg (Denise), Mary (Peter) and Trish (Al) great-nieces and nephews, Nicholas, Timothy, Phillip, Tyler, Cara, Heidi, Hayley, Amanda, Rebecca Jane (who has her middle name and shares her birth date), Alex and Eric, and great-great niece Britney. Born in Tarnopol, Poland, on November 30, 1923. She joined the Polish Army Signal Corps., where she met Augustyn. They married in 1945 in Egypt. After a brief stay in England they immigrated to Winnipeg in 1949. Janina was a generous aunt and sister, who always remembered birthdays, anniversaries and shared her Polish delicacies with her family, friends and neighbours and devoted to her faith. Prayers will be held on Tuesday, August 6 at 8:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, August 7 at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Ghost Roman Catholic Church, 341 Selkirk Ave., with an Oblate Father officiating. Interment will follow in Holy Ghost Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Tom and Greg Wojcikowski, Al Lavoie, Peter and Nicholas Dyck, and Peter Sigurdson. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Janinas memory to the Canadian Diabetes Association or the Manitoba Heart & Stroke Foundation. CROPO FUNERAL CHAPEL 586-8044
