RICHARD JOHN REES We are saddened to announce the sudden passing of Richard John (Rick) Rees on Friday, August 2, 2002. Left to mourn his loss are his precious children, Shannon Melody and Harris Raymond and their mother, Elaine Kilfoyle-Rees of Saskatoon, SK. Rick will also be sadly missed by his partner Wendy Collett, his mother and her husband, Lois and Raymond Lamy, his brother Trevor (Janice) Rees of Winnipeg, sister Sharon Lundin of Gibbons, AB, sister Laura Montebello (Tom) of Mission, BC, and sister Li-Anne Macdonald (Norm) of Gibbons, AB and Aunty Donna Eddy and cousins Paul and Bob of Minnesota. In addition Uncle Rick is survived by his nieces and nephews, Crystal, Scott, Angie, Bonnie, Tim, Jeremy, Ashley, Marla, Jake, Corey, Jeff, Luke and Brianna. Rick was predeceased by his father John Henry Mulvey Rees in 1968 and his niece Andrea in 1986. Rick was born on November 5, 1947 and spent his youth in the St. Vital and Norwood areas. He attended schools at Norberry, Nordale and Nelson McIntyre Collegiate. The highlight of these years were the summers he spent with his grandparents, Olive and Walter Rhodes at Laclu, ON. His career spanned many years in the food processing industry, firstly with Maple Leaf Mills and most recently with BeeMaid Honey. Throughout his career he travelled extensively throughout North America, Europe and Asia, making many lasting friendships along the way. Rick was highly respected within the industry for his integrity and extensive knowledge of marketing. Rick was a devoted father and son and loyal friend. He had a unique sense of humour which will be missed by all. He truly was one of a kind! A celebration of his life will be held on Wednesday, August 7 at 7:00 p.m., P. Coutu Funeral Home, 156 Marion St., Winnipeg, MB R2H OT4, with reception to follow at Norwood Community Centre, 87 Walmer at Lawndale Avenue. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba, 301-352 Donald St., Winnipeg MB, R3B 2H8, or to a charity of your choice. P.
