MARGARET (GREDEL) WARKENTIN Peacefully, our mother, Margaret Warkentin went to be with her Lord on August 2, 2002. Left to cherish her memory are her children, daughter Margaret (Ed) Guenther, son John (Yvonne), and daughter Marilyn (John) Derksen; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; brother John J. Voth; and sisters, Hilda (Dave H.) Penner, and Alice (John) Dueck. She was predeceased by her husband John D. Warkentin; her parents, Johann and Anna Voth; brother William; sisters, Tina (Jake) Lepp, Annie (Alfred) Friesen, and Joan (Jake) Wiebe. Margaret was born on October 16, 1913 in Sagradowka, Russia and came to Canada in 1927. She married John Warkentin on September 30, 1937 and lived in Grunthal until shortly after his death in 1989. In 1991, mother moved to Bethel Place in Winnipeg and later to West Park Manor Personal Care Home. Margarets strengths were her family and her faith. She enjoyed participating in various charity projects with the ladies church group, gardening, quilting, and cooking for her family and friends. The family wishes to thank the many staff members, volunteers, and her special companion Mary Klassen, for all the loving care and compassion shown to Mom during her stay at West Park Manor. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, August 7, 2:00 p.m. at the Elim Mennonite Church, 30 Main St. in Grunthal, MB, with interment in the Grunthal cemetery. Friends may pay their last respects on August 6, 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Loewen Funeral Chapel and at the church prior to the service. Should friends so desire, donations in her memory may be made to Mennonite Central Committee, 134 Plaza Dr., Winnipeg, MB R3T 5K9 or Alzheimer Manitoba, 205 Edmonton St., Winnipeg, MB R3C 1R2.
