EMILE GEORGE LAMIRANDE Peacefully on Saturday, August 3, 2002 at the Douglas Campbell Lodge, Portage la Prairie, Emile Lamirande of St. Ambroise, MB, beloved husband of Mary, passed away at the age of 81 years. Prayers and funeral service will be held in the St. Ambroise Roman Catholic Church, St. Ambroise, on Thursday, August 8. Prayers at 10:30 a.m., followed by the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. with the Reverend Father Wayne Morrissey officiating. Interment will follow in the St. Ambroise Parish Cemetery. Emile was born on July 14, 1921, son of Xavier and Rose Lamirande, at St. Ambroise where he was raised and received his education. He was a self-employed commercial fisherman on Lake Manitoba as well as painting for Hay Decorating for several years. He was employed as manager of the Naegeless Mallard Lodge for many years until his retirement. Emile was a member of the St. Ambroise Roman Catholic Church. He enjoyed nature and the great outdoors and spent many hours hunting and fishing. The family treasures the trophy he received for shooting four ducks with one shot. He enjoyed his home, yard and garden where he planted many fruit trees. His special times were spent with his wife, family and friends, enjoying a game of cribbage or a day at the horse races. Emile was predeceased by his parents, Xavier and Rose; brothers, Leo and Donat; and sisters, Antoinette and Zelda. Emile leaves to mourn his passing and to cherish his loving memory, his wife Mary of 49 years; brother Louis (Agnes) of St. Ambroise; sister Mildred Obre of Vancouver, BC; brother-in-law Aime Lavallee; sister-in-law Ida Lamirande; a special God child Crystal Hogue; and special friend Pat Cameron; as well as several nieces, nephews and friends. Friends may call at the funeral home for visitation on Wednesday evening from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. Should friends so desire, memorial donations may be made to the Arthritis Society, 105-386 Broadway, Winnipeg, MB R3C 3R6.
