WILFRED DYCHUK January 17, 1917 - August 4, 2002 Gigis last days were spent at his favourite place, his summer home in Twin Lake Beaches. Quickly and without warning he took his leave on August 4, 2002. Gigi was a very special dad and grandpa. Family was everything to him. He cherished his time with daughter Sonia; and grandchildren, Melissa, Kayla and Ryan. Active and central in the lives of his little family, he will be sadly missed in their daily lives and ever remembered for his generous spirit, his wisdom and his gifts of caring and kindness. Wilfred was predeceased by his wife Muriel; his brothers, William and Stephen Dychuk of Teulon, MB; and his niece Dorothy. He is survived by his sister Olga Michaluk of Kenora, ON. Wilfred was born on January 17, 1917 in Clandeboye, MB. He completed his Grade 12 in Teulon, MB, and continued his studies at the University of Manitoba where he obtained his Bachelor of Science degree. Wilfred pursued a very interesting career path which led him to Flin Flon, MB where he was employed as a metallurgist for the Hudson Bay Smelting Company. Further adventures took him to Broken Hills, Northern Rhodesia from 1956-1961 and Kitwe, Zambia in 1987-1988 where he was employed as a mining plant superintendent. Wilfred subsequently worked as a physics instructor at Red River Community College until his retirement. Well travelled and always interested in politics and world events, Wilfred had many stories and a philosophy on life he loved to share with friends and family. Wilfred was an avid gardener who could be quite boastful about his lovely flowers and bountiful produce. He loved to entertain. Gentle, kind and extremely generous with family, friends and strangers, Wilfred will be fondly remembered by all who were fortunate enough to meet him. Wilfreds family wish to especially thank his friends and neighbours at Twin Lake Beaches who not only enriched his life at the cottage throughout the years, but were also there when Wilfred suddenly passed away. A special thank-you goes out to Sheryl Pearson for her help and support during this difficult time. Memorial service will be held on Friday, August 9, at 1:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. CROPO FUNERAL CHAPEL 586-8044
