HARRY MARION After a long battle with cancer Homer Harrison (Harry) Marion of Lac du Bonnet, MB passed away at the Beausejour Hospital on Monday, August 5, 2002 at the age of 79 years. He is survived by his loving wife Dorothy of 57 years; and children, Ruth Owsiak (Ed), Donna, John (Mira and Martin) all of Winnipeg and David of Mexico City; as well as one sister Florence (Flo). Also mourning his passing are treasured family friends Joan Wojciechowski ("Auntie Joanie") of Lac du Bonnet and Daniel Leonard of Quebec, as well as numerous other friends and relations. He was predeceased by his son Norman and a brother Hector. He lived a simple life in Lac du Bonnet, spending 40 years working for Winnipeg Hydro, making sure those "city slickers" had light and heat at their fingertips. He loved the outdoors and was never happier than when he was hunting, fishing or trapping. His love of nature however did not extend to the bears who chased him up the hydro towers or the beavers with whom he battled over ownership of the trees along the river. With drive and determination he overcame obstacles and was a daily reminder to all who knew him of the importance of hard work and providing for his family. The lessons he lived are a true legacy: a simple life lived one day at a time doing the work that you choose, spending time with people you love. Dad, the cribbage board is waiting and the old time fiddlers are tuning up. Free, free at last, Lord Almighty, free at last. The family would like to thank all the medical people who helped Dad through his last days, in particular Dr. Campbell and the nurses and staff of the Beausejour Hospital. At his request, cremation has taken place and no formal services will be held. If friends so desire, memorial donations in Harrys memory may be made to the CancerCare Foundation, 675 McDermot Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3E 0V9. RUSSELL FUNERAL HOMES LTD. AND CREMATORIUM of Beausejour, Manitoba are in care of arrangements. Call 1-866-424-6271 (toll free) or 268-2263.
