GLADYS EMILY MacMILLAN (nee DOWNING) After a short illness, with her family by her side, we announce the passing of our beloved mother on August 6, 2002 at the age of 91 years, at Rosewood Lodge, Stonewall. She was predeceased by her husband Neil; parents, Mary and Joseph Downing; sister Ethel; brothers, Norman and Leonard; stepdaughters, Muriel, Amy and Elsie. Left to cherish her memory are daughter Christina Bowman; sons, Ken (Joan), Neil (Faye) and stepsons, Rolland (Rita), Morris (Alice) and Archie (Dorothy) sister Mary; brothers, George and Alfred; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Mom was a very hard worker and enjoyed the day to day life as a farmer. She was also an active and lifetime member of the Meadow Lea United Church. Mom enjoyed family get-togethers and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. "Gladie" spent the last few years at Rosewood Lodge, where she met many new friends and the staff became an extended family to her. At her request cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held on Friday, August 9 at 2:00 p.m. at MacKenzie Funeral Chapel, Stonewall. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to Meadow Lea United Church or Rosewood Lodge, Stonewall. There is a smile well remember forever. True was her heart, Her actions so kind Her life was a pattern For those left behind. A beautiful soul In a garden of rest Its true what they say God chooses the best. MacKenzie Funeral Home, Stonewall in care of arrangements.
