RALPH MURRAY PEARCE On Sunday, August 4, 2002, at the Health Sciences Centre, Ralph Pearce, 72 years, with his family at his side, went to be with his Lord and Savior. Ralph is survived by his beloved wife Doreen; his children, Shirley, Don (Mary) and Karen; grandchildren, Samuel and Muriel. Ralph also leaves his four brothers and their families. Ralph was born and raised in Fort Garry. He was a former Director and President of the Westridge Community Centre. A former Director and Vice-President of the Greater Winnipeg Minor Hockey Association and a former Director of the Manitoba Amateur Hockey Association. Ralph was a School Trustee in Ward 2 for 15 years and during that time had been the Chairman of the School Board, Chairman of Finance, Chairman of Negotiations and Chairman of Buildings, Maintenance and Planning Committees at various times. Ralph was a Director of the Manitoba Association of School Trustees. Ralph served with the R.C.M.P. as well as a policeman with the C.P.R. Ralph survived the polio epidemic of 1953 and in 1955 he started his 35 year employment with the City of Winnipeg. Retired in 1991 from the Technical Services Operations Department, District 5, City of Winnipeg. Due to the post polio syndrome Ralph had been a resident at Riverview Health Centre for the past four years and had made many friends with staff and residents with his pet name known to some as "Ralphie". The family would like to thank all the nurses and staff of 2 East at Riverview Health Centre for their wonderful care as well as the M.I.C.U. nursing team and doctors at the Health Sciences Centre. A celebration of Ralphs life will take place on Friday, August 9 at 2:00 p.m. in the Riverview Health Centre, 1 Morley Ave. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Ralphs memory to the Post Polio 53 Club, 2E - 1 Morley Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3L 2P4.
