THOMAS EDWARD FORREST Suddenly at home on August 6, 2002 at home Thomas (Tom) Forrest passed away in his 90th year. He had suffered through a series of illnesses during the last decade of his life. Tom is survived by his wife Isabel and daughter Gloria (Ron Gray). He is also survived by his only brother Lawrence Forrest of Langley, BC and his children, Thomas, Patricia and Susan. Tom was born in Winnipeg on January 22, 1913. In 1939 dad was to begin a 37-year career with the CNR. His career was interrupted by war. Tom volunteered and was posted to the RCASC as a Tank Mechanic. He served in England, Belgium, Holland and Germany. His was among the first regiments to enter Holland at the time of the liberation. Following the war he returned to work at the CNR first as a painter and later as a carpenter, retiring in July 1976. Dad and Mom would have celebrated 62 years of marriage on the 14th of August 2002. Toms leisure time was spent repairing, rebuilding or constructing either at home, or at his cottage at Eleanor Lake which he lovingly referred to as the "Bush". His cottage was his pride and joy. He built it himself and it was one of the first built on the lake. He also loved tinkering with cars. He was very active until the last few months. He was able to drive until that time, making his daily trip to Polo Park to meet his "old" friends. Special thanks to Jim Fraiser for all his care and consideration in our familys time of need. Thanks also to Ambulance, Fire and Police on the scene for their efforts. A funeral service will be held on Friday, August 9 at 12:00 noon, at Neil Bardal Inc., 984 Portage Ave. (entrance on Aubrey Street). In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, donations may be made to a charity of your choice. NEIL BARDAL INC. 949-2200
