JOAN ALICE ROBERTA MACAULAY (nee MILLER) After a brief and courageous battle with cancer, Joan passed away peacefully at home with her beloved husband and family by her side on Wednesday, August 7, 2002. She will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by Wally, her husband of 48 years; her children, Greg and his wife Kerry, Pam and husband Sander Arnaud, and Sandra and husband Len Connolly; as well as her beloved grandchildren, Blair, Scott and Meghan Macaulay, Carley Arnaud and Braden and Cameron Connolly. Also missing her greatly, will be numerous relatives and many close, cherished friends. She was predeceased by her parents Clifford and Mabel. Joan was an amazing and gifted lady who touched everyone she met in one way or another. Her warm smile and caring, compassionate nature will be missed by all. She had many passions in life, her most recent being quilting. She was a member of the MB Prairie Quilters where she met some special new friends. She also enjoyed reading, knitting, sewing, golf, spending time at the lake and always found great joy in cooking. If you ever needed a special recipe Joan would have it. Nothing brought her more happiness than having her family and grandchildren around her. A memorial service will be held on Monday, August 12, 11:00 a.m. at Glen Lawn Funeral Home, 455 Lagimodiere Blvd. (across from the mint). A light lunch will be served immediately following. The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to all the very special and wonderful people that Mom encountered in her brief struggle, Dr. Harris and her staff at Grace Cancer Care, Home Care staff Charlene and Myrna, the wonderful staff at St. Boniface Palliative Care and Kristen for being with us in the end. We are all truly touched by the compassion of these angels. We are also grateful for the many family and friends who have offered their love, support and prayers. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to CancerCare Manitoba or to the St. Boniface Palliative Care. "Joan, Mom, Nana . . . We love you. You will live in our hearts forever."
