DAN MUSIL Dan Musil passed away on August 5, 2002 at his home at the age of 78 after a long battle with diabetes. He will be sadly missed by his former wife, Mary, stepson David, and brother Lubos in Czech Republic, and friend George. He was predeceased by his parents, Maria and Josef Musil. Dan was born on June 17, 1924, in Drahany, Moravia, in what is now the Czech Republic. He attended university in Prague and Brno, receiving a Doctor of Laws degree from the University of Brno. He worked as an interpreter in Europe, coming to Canada in 1951. In Winnipeg, he was employed by Westeel as a draftsman for about 16 years, and later by Motor Coach Industries as a machinist for 16 years. Dan loved travelling, and took many trips to Europe when he was well. Highlights were Venice and the Egyptian Pyramids. During his last days, he was looked after by many Home Care and We Care workers. Special thanks to them all, particularly Alanna. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to CNIB, 1080 Portage Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3G 3M3. Graveside funeral will be held at 3:00 p.m. Friday, August 9 at Brookside Cemetery, 3001 Notre Dame Ave. Rev. Patrick Lee will be officiating the ceremonies.
