She will be greatly missed by son George (Beth) daughters, Diane Sidorchuk (Brian), and Margaret McCorriston and son Gord (Pat). She was a loving grandmother to Karen (Brent), Patricia (Brad), Daniel, David, Janine (Jared), Keri (Jeff), Allison (John), Darren (Colleen), Robert, Chris, Lori, and Joey and great-grandchild Cody. She also leaves to mourn her brothers, Marcel (Heather), Godfrey (June) her sisters, Irene Taillieu, Mary Bannatyne, and Lorraine McTaggart. She was predeceased by her husband Gordon in 1996; parents, Edmond and Maria Taillieu; her sisters, Angela, Alice and Margaret and brother George. Godelieve was born in Winnipeg on June 29, 1919 and was raised on a dairy farm in Charleswood. She married Gordon in 1940 and worked hard at several employers while raising her family. She was a talented seamstress and knitter and all of her family will cherish her gifts of sweaters, afghans, and socks. Even though she struggled with rheumatoid arthritis she never quit a project once she got started. Holidays wont be the same without her applesauce on the table. In her 60s she took up swimming and joined the Sherbrook Pool where she became a volunteer, as a helper with special needs children. Later she joined the Pam Am Pool where she was an active member until her passing. She made many long and lasting friendships and after every swimming session you could always find Mom with her friends at McDonald or going for a walk through Grant Park Mall. Godelieve deeply cherished her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchild. Her love and support were evident at their dance recitals, hockey games, school functions, and graduations. Her family was her "life". Funeral service will be held on Monday, August 12 at 10:00 a.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. Interment will follow in Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens. Flowers gratefully declined. Donations may be made to the charity of your choice. Arrangements entrusted to: CHAPEL LAWN FUNERAL HOME CEMETERY AND CREMATORIUM 885-9715
