Fred was born in Arnes on March 11th, 1912. Fred and Loa were married on May 26, 1937 and spent 65 wonderful years together in Arnes. He spent his early years, a time which he enjoyed and loved to reminisce with his grandchildren, fishing on Lake Winnipeg. They then farmed in Arnes until retiring in 1990. Fred also spent many hours enjoying nature, watching the birds and wildlife in his daily travels. His greatest treasure was time spent with his family. His grandchildren and great-grandchildren were very special to him and he will always be remembered for his smile and the special twinkle in his eye when they were around. He loved and cherished everyone of them, they were his sunshine. Afi was always known for his great sense of humor, his gentle and caring ways, if there was an infant around you could guarantee it would be in his arms. Afi will truly be missed and always remembered in our hearts. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, August 13 at 2:00 p.m. in the Riverton-Hnausa Lutheran Church with Pastor George Johnson officiating. Interment will follow in the Hnausa Cemetery. His pallbearers will be his grandsons, Valdimar, Warren, Chad, Neals, Trent, and brother-in-law Kristinn. The family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to the Arborg Health Center staff, the homecare ladies, the Health Sciences Center and the Riverton Ambulance Attendants for their care and compassion. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, can make a donation in Freds memory to a charity of choice. Till we meet again. Gilbart Funeral Home, in care of arrangements.
