FRANZ-JOSEF KAMES On Wednesday August 7, 2002 at the Queen Elizabeth II Hospital in Grande Prairie, AB, Franz-Josef Kames passed peacefully away at age 66 years, while on holidays. Franz was the son of the late Severin and Mathilde (Schmitter) Kames of Germany. He was predeceased by an infant brother, his sister Maria Krings, and his grandson Andrew. Franz was born in Moechengladbach, Germany, where he farmed with his parents. In 1965 he married Annemarie Lappessen and continued farming in Rath-Anhoven. In 1978 they moved to Manitoba with their two daughters, and Franz realized his dream of farming in a new country. Franz loved spending time with his family and was over-joyed to have his grandchildren around him. He was a man with a keen sense of humour and loved to share a good joke with a friend, and enjoyed entertaining visitors in his home. Franz is survived by his wife Annemarie Kames; his daughter Irmgard, her husband Rick Nychuk and their children Alexandra, Anthony-Joseph, and Daniel; his daughter Mathilde, her husband Willy Nayet, and their daughter Gabrielle. The Prayer Service will be held on Monday, August 12 at 7:00 p.m. at the Parish of St. Hyacinthe in La Salle, MB. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, August 13 at 10:00 a.m. also at St. Hyacinthe, with interment in the Parish Cemetery. Lunch will follow at the Domain Hall.
