Millie was born in Kelwood, MB on November 17, 1910. She came to Winnipeg as a young woman seeking employment and worked for several prominent Winnipeg families. Millie married Joe in 1938 residing in Old Kildonan market gardening along the Red River. It is here (now a beautiful golf course) their four children were born. Some years later they moved to West St. Paul continuing to grow an even more diverse vegetable crop. Millie was enthusiastic, hard working and loved life. Who can forget her enjoyment, exuberance and pride in preparing and serving her guests those great home-grown meals she was so famous for. When not in her kitchen she could be found in the garden, her second love. Successful gardeners, Millie and Joe spent many winters in Florida and Texas where she enjoyed shuffleboard, dancing and participating in pot luck dinners with all their friends. Millie was predeceased by her husband Joe in 1984, brothers Reggie of Kenora, Robert and Tom and her sister Vivian Daum of Vancouver.
