THOMAS ROBERT HUMPHREYS (TOMMY) Tommy was born June 18, 1914 in Winnipeg and died Sunday, August 4, 2002 at the Carberry Personal Care Home. Other than the last several months in Carberry, he lived his entire life and worked in Winnipeg. He was predeceased by his loving wife Jen after working as a team for 58 years, and by a younger brother Gerald Humphreys (Dora). He leaves to cherish his memory his son Grant Humphreys (Bonnie), Richmond, BC; daughter Lynne Hood (Bruce), Carberrry, MB; grandchildren, Shannon Rasmussen (Rob Kunka), Port Moody, BC, Paula Meredith (Kelly), Maple Ridge, BC, Lisa Pedlow (Scott), Brandon, MB, and Kevin Hood (Erin), Carberry; great-grandchildren, Kurtis and Erik Rasmussen, and Tyler and Katie Meredith all of British Columbia. Surviving Tommy are his two sisters, Evelyn Williams and Gladys Papson (Alf) and one brother George; brother-in-law George Birtwhistle; as well as many nieces and nephews. Tommy was employed with Eatons for 40 years and after early retirement was self-employed for another 20 years as a manufacturers agent. He thoroughly enjoyed his work and made many friends in his travels. He served with the Canadian Armed Forces during the Second World War and was a longtime member of St. Albans Anglican Church. Tommy was a life member of Meridian No. 140 AF and AM Masonic Lodge, life member of All Bodies of Scottish Right, Khartum Shrine Temple, life member and past president of Khartum Drum and Bugle Corps, Fort Rouge No. 97 Legion, and "65" Seniors Club, Fort Rouge Seniors Curling Club and Grand Beach Community Club. He was very proud and fond of his many associates in the various organizations he belonged to. He enjoyed his many years to the fullest with his family and grandchildren in Grand Beach at the "Hom-For-Eez". Tom was outgoing, caring and sensitive to his fellow man. He will be sincerely missed by his family, but we know he will be well looked after in his reunion with Jen and his Maker. Sleep well Dad; we love you and will miss you. God Bless Always Cremation has taken place. There will be a memorial service at St. Albans Anglican Church, Winnipeg, on Wednesday, August 14 at 2:00 p.m. Officiating clergy Donna Ball. Interment will take place Friday, August 16 at 2:00 p.m. at the Carberry Cemetery with Peggy Reid officiating. Memoriams may be sent to the Shrine Hospital for Crippled Children or the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba.
