MARIE-ANNA GRATTON (nee MATTE) 1907 - 2002 Peacefully, on Friday, August 9, 2002, Marie-Anna Gratton passed away at the Foyer Valade at the age of 95 years. She is survived by her children, Richard (Donna), Pauline Forest (Lionel), Leonard (Mariette) and Reynold (Claudia) 11 grandchildren to whom she was affectionately know as "memere"; 13 great-grandchildren; and her sister Jeanne Herman (Alex) as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Marie-Anna was predeceased by her husband Donat in 1979 and by six brothers and five sisters. Marie-Anna spent most of her life in Ste. Elizabeth, MB. Upon retirement, she and Donat resided in St. Vital. She performed numerous volunteer services for her community and for her church. She was an accomplished seamstress, cook and gardener, the fruits of which she shared with her family who were the love of her life. The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to the staff at Foyer Valade, in particular to her dedicated caregivers on the second floor, who exhibited great compassion and love for her. Flowers are gratefully declined. If desired, an expression of sympathy may be made in Marie-Annas memory to a charity of ones choice. Funeral mass will be celebrated at the Precieux-Sang Roman Catholic Church, 200 Kenny St. in St. Boniface on Tuesday, August 13 at 2:00 p.m. Private interment of Marie-Annas cremated remains will take place in Glen Lawn Memorial Gardens at a later date.
