EDMUNDO MANUEL SOUSA After a brief battle with cancer Edmundo Manuel Sousa peacefully passed away at his home, on Sunday, August 11, 2002 at the age of 69. Edmundo was born in Ponta Delgada, Azores, Portual on February 28, 1933. He came to Canada on September 14, 1973. He was predeceased by his parents, Maria de Gloria and Antonio Sousa; brothers, Allen and Antonio Sousa and his granddaughter Kelly Rosa. Left to mourn is his wife of 51 years, Julia Sousa; children, Carlos (Anjos), Estrela (Jose), Gabriela (Alberto), Paul (Ana), Edmund (Christine), Tony (Debi) brother Jose; sisters, Leontina, Liliana and Maria; 21 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews. Special thanks to Dr. Peter Kirk and Mary Ashcroft from Palliative Care at Riverview and Brenda Smith, thanks for being a great nurse. In lieu of flowers please make donations to CancerCare Manitoba and please add a little prayer afterwards. Prayers will be held on Tuesday, August 13, at 7:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, August 14, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Peters Roman Catholic Church, 748 Keewatin Street with Msgr. Maurice Comeault, P.H., V.F. officiating. Entombment will follow in the Queen of Heaven Mausoleum at Assumption Cemetery, 3990 Portage Ave. Peacefully sleeping, resting at last, Your weary trials and troubles are past; In silence, you suffered, With such patience you bore, Til God called you home to suffer no more.
