MARY ELLIS (nee TROUP) Peacefully on August 10, 2002, with her family by her side, Mary passed away at the age of 91 years, at the Arborg Hospital. Mary lived in Winnipeg after arriving in Canada at the age of 18. Mary was born in Aberdeen Scotland to James and Jesse Troup on October 12, 1910. Mary was predeceased by her parents and all 12 of her brothers and sisters. Mary is also predeceased by her husband William in October 1961. Upon arriving in Canada, Mary found work at the Honey Dew Restaurant, she worked there for many years. Mary met William Ellis in 1931 and married him in 1932. They had one child, a daughter they named Shirley Ruth. Mary worked hard for many years and was able to manage on her own until a few years ago when she moved to the Arborg Personal Care Home. Mary is survived by her only child Shirley and her husband Ron Delbridge of Hnausa, MB; seven grandchildren, Leslie (Bev) Delbridge of Hnausa, MB, Judy (Charlie) Grant of Riverton, MB, Darlene (Mike) Walchuk of Wininpeg, MB, Steve (Kris) Delbridge of Winnipeg, MB, Valerie (Glenn) Jonson of Arborg, MB, Pat (Marcya) Delbridge of Hnausa, MB, Laura (Trevor) Heaps of Silver, MB. Mary is also survived by 28 great-grandchildren and 19 great-great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews throughout Scotland, Canada and the U.S. Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Leslie, Steve and Pat Delbridge and grandsons-in-law, Charlie Grant, Mike Walchuk and Glenn Jonson. Funeral services will be held at Thomson Funeral Chapels, 669 Broadway, on Thursday August 15 at 1:00 p.m. A special thank you to the staff at the Arborg Personal Care Home for taking care of Mom/Grandma for the past two years, and to the nurses and Dr. Muller for taking care of her this past week. Mom had a great love for animals. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Winnipeg Humane Society, 5 Kent Rd., Winnipeg, MB, R3A 1S1 or Arborg Personal Care Home, Box 10, Arborg, MB, R0C 0A0 in her memory. We held our hands upon your chest As you slowly slipped away, We only hope you realize How much youre loved today. One lonely heart stopped beating, Two beautiful hands at rest, You only wanted to be at home Because home was always best.
